i'm green with envy
i have just heard penelope green talk about her new book "girl by sea" and her life and experiences in italy. she was lovely, very open and honest. i will endeavour to read her new book however i know it will awaken my passion and longing to return to italy. aahhh one day i hope.
snail mail
i forgot how exciting it is to receive a letter in the mail that isn't demanding you pay $200 for services you take for granted and forget you need to pay for. so yesterday afternoon when i arrived home from work it was so lovely to see a new little zine (thaw) just for me to peruse over a glass of wine once the little poppet was snug in bed.
i now want to plan two day trips one to ballarat to see some of the wonderful places mentioned in the mag and to daylesford to check out the new lark shop. so much to do so little time.

just married
ha... no not me. i went to take a peek at a family friends wedding today. the bride looked beautiful and the ceremony was lovely. from my experience with weddings, other peoples of course, i have never been to one that didn't make me tear up, that didn't make my heart ache with the romanticism of the whole thing. by making a declaration of love, to the one you love in front of your loved ones. oh they truly are such beautiful occasions and i am a sucker for romance!

a new home sweet home
we will be moving. really looking forward to the new place, it's much bigger than where we are now and with our little poppet owning more stuff than her mama and dada combined we are bulging at the seams. so more space will allow for more crap, eh i mean more beautiful and of course necessary toys, books, clothes and my little obsession cushions : )

a moment in my shoes...
reading luvinthemommyhood today and thought i would join in the share a bit about me. so please take a moment in my shoes...
making- a mess, i dont even need to try. but oh i do it so well!
cooking- those melting moments i intended to make weeks ago before being summoned to sleep school
drinking-a glass of semillon sauvignon blanc
reading- really stimulating articles for uni
wanting- to be reading a book that inspires imagination on a beach in hawaii
looking- at all the stuff we have that needs to be packed to move. oh dont you just luuuvvv moving?
playing- peek-a-boo around the couch with my little girl now she's on the move
wasting- time stressing about things i have no control over
sewing- a dress for my little girl & two quilts, one small & one large.
wishing- i had won tattslotto tonight {i can dream}
enjoying- some me time
waiting- for my "unsigned" hubby to buy me flowers on his way home from work one day
liking- having spent some time with mum today it's been awhile
wondering- how my family will all fit around the table at our parents soon as we will have gone from them having 2 grand children to 5 within a year.
loving- my life. it's testing me at the moment with being a new mum, going back to work, studying part time, being a girlfriend, a daughter, a friend, a housewife, finding a new place to live and i'm sure there's a few other hats i have temporarily forgotten about. i am exhausted but it's my life and i wouldn't want it any other way.
hoping- we have an air-conditioner where ever we live next, if they are right in saying we will have a really hot summer this year.
marvelling- at my daughter, she is growing so fast, taking it all in along the way and making my heart swell every time i look at her.
needing- a hair cut and colour
smelling- the coconut and lime body mousse i sampled in a store today
wearing- jeans, a blue and white floaty top and my green cons
following- afl football scores in the add breaks of anne of green gables. (one of my all time favourites)
noticing- that time truly does pass you by
knowing- i should go to bed and turn off the computer
thinking- how i would love to have a sewing room
bookmarking- gorgeous blogs that include tutorials on wonderful things to make and do that i will hopefully one day get back to.
opening- emails from uni that i have been avoiding
giggling- at hearing my daughter giggle properly for the first time yesterday when i ripped some velcro with added sound effects
feeling- tired

slouchy trackie bottoms
here's my bubba's new slouchy tracksuit bottoms. i love the style of these trackie pants that i make for my little poppet. i traced the pattern from another pair of pants months ago and as she grows i trace around the previous pair making them bigger as i go. they are wide legged and very cute on her. i used some of the left over hushabye jelly roll fabric to cuff them. the fabric will probably fray a bit but thats ok she's growing so fast.
yesterdays request
as it was fathers day my man could request a special breakfast so he choose banana pancakes. so bubba and i with the help of tessa kiros's apples for jam cookbook managed to successfully fulfill that which he desired. i was pretty happy with the result if you dont mind me saying and they tasted very yummy.

a work in progress
it was my sister in law's birthday yesterday, and so we popped around for a drink to share it with her. she showed me all her beautiful creations and her latest thrift store finds which were fabulous and it of course sent me on a mission today in an attempt to discover some of my own. well i failed miserably and came home feeling slightly deflated, so in order to feel i "achieved" something today i set out to make a small quilt with my newly delivered "summer in the city by urban chiks" sampler kit. in between entertaining my little poppet who fought with me tooth and nail not to go to sleep (we managed to clock up 40 mins for the whole day) i managed to sew it together using the squares as they were, making it nice and simple and will back it and bind it with a matching brown quilters fabric.
i know some may say i cheated as the squares came pre-cut and the design mixture chosen for me however this way of quilting has got me enthused. i always leave quilts unfinished. over the years i have spent a small fortune on buying beautiful fabrics, taken the loooong time to co-ordinate them and then begun the cutting procedure. the cutting part is where i loose it, i dont have the time or the patience, i want it to be ready to go. so jellyrolls, layer cakes, charm packs etc are so exciting for me as the "tedious" part is done. now to simply make sure i complete it before the end of the year.
so all in all after feeling pretty ordinary for most of the day, i now feel i have "done" something and i can now relax... or i could tidy up and i must stop avoiding my studies!
