christmas crowds
well the crowds have certainly thickened up over the years and I think I have put off the final christmas shop long enough. I'm deciding whether or not to tackle the christmas shopping crowd tonight. i've just popped into aldi which was 'fun' so not sure if i'm ready for the big shopping centre or not. although i really want to get everything finalised as I'm starting to feel that panic feeling creeping in.

tradition
our christmas tree growing up and even still now has some very special occupants 5 little glass birdies which mum would hide on the tree and my brother and I would delight in trying to find them. i loved it and still eagerly look for them still and try to be the first to find all 5. now i have a bubba of my own i thought i would like to have some birds for our christmas tree and have decided that every year i will buy a new birdie for the tree. this is the first year and here is the first birdie, he's not made of glass however i still think he's quite beautiful.

I have finished and express posted my softie for Mirabel today and hope he arrives and is added to the fabulous collections at Meet me at Mikes for Mirabel. He's not the cutest of the bunch or the most detailed however I hope he makes a special little someone smile.
thank you to shishigirl for the very cute and different template to create Mr. Stingray. He makes me think of nemo's teacher!

hey there softie
after my little 'angel' went to sleep last night i attempted to finish some hey dee ho's that my friends had requested from me. as some of us are catching up today i wanted to have them ready. i think they're looking pretty cute, colourful and cuddly and they are now ready to venture out and be given new homes.
i have been really slack on the sewing/craft front of late as you may have noticed, however i'm still endeavouring to complete one or two more softies for the 'softies for Mirabel' campaign hosted by meet me at mikes. i don't mind if it doesn't make it in to the window display of the shop i just want to make sure it makes it to a little person. so now i must really work on the deadline of having it sent to 'mikes' by the 10th dec.

blue
i am feeling a little woe me at the moment. my darling little bundle of joy who is (oh my god where has the year gone) a month shy of one year has been far far far from a delight today, wouldn't sleep (not uncommon), hitting me cos' didn't want to go to sleep, be rocked or any of the usual methods, is teething so biting me, spitting and spraying her food out, refusing her bottle and discovered screaming for attention, irritation, joy, delight, frustration, etc you get the picture...
and the man has escaped for a bucks weekend, no i'm not resentful, he works hard too but cant help feeling a little abandoned and doubt i'll have much hair left by sunday as it'll have been pulled out. don't get me wrong i love them both but think i need to pop a spa package on the good old credit card asap.

on a deer hunt
not literally of course. i am attempting to make little miss her first santa sack and would like to pop some animal appliques on it. so the search continues for the cutest deer outline to use as an applique. it's harder than you might think, and i can be very fusing : ) as i am a pretty hopeless drawer i'll save that option til last!

cute kids clothes
I found this new book, making children's clothing by emma hardy at the library today. Very excited as there are lots of gorgeous clothes to make for kids. Simple instructions and patterns included, including one for a sun hat which I have wanted to get my hands on to make for miss poppet who is growing so fast. I might have to add this book to my K.K list. now to find an extra hour in the day and i can attempt to make some of the cute clothes!

i have always loved fairy tales and with the re-living of my childhood through my bubba i have been reminded just how much. she's too young to even sit through a telling of them but that doesn't stop me buying her lots of books and adding my childhood books to her ever growing collection. at the moment i'm smitten particularly with the tale of red riding hood. so here a just a few red items that have caught my eye on etsy.

new room
the only room in the house that is completely unpacked and just like new is little miss poppets. in an attempt to help her with the transition and to speed up the settling in process i made it my priority to have her room all organised as soon as possible. so with her butterfly hooks, birdie mobile and belle and boo print up; her books on her book case and her clothes (all of them, too small, too big and just right) in her drawers and closet my little angel is all settled in. as for her mama and the rest of the house, well that's another story...

first steps to surfing
our little bubba had her first swimming lesson yesterday with her very proud dada. she loved every minute of it even though she was beyond tired due to refusing to have a morning sleep (apparently this mama doesn't know best). yes, the sleep stand off continues! anyway her dada is very eager for her to enjoy his passion for surfing so we are off to a positive start. her instincts kicked right in and her little legs were doing just that, kicking away beneath the water. cant wait to watch her confidence grow as the classes continue.

bookworm
at the moment i am indulging in two very enjoyable books and have just realised they are both centred around people's lives, challenges, changes and cooking. maybe i need to take a hint, read the signs... i certainly have enough challenges and change in my life at present so maybe the cooking would be therapeutic?

hey dee ho
my new venture...soft toys.
well we will see how we go, slowly at this stage. i unfortunately dont have a lot of spare time, however in it i'd like to attempt to make more softies. this one has been made for a friend who has just informed me she's pregnant and i thought i'm sure i could make something of equal quality as found in the stores and with a personal touch it'll mean so much more. i'm pretty happy with "hey dee ho" here. hope her and her little bubba like him too!

i'm green with envy
i have just heard penelope green talk about her new book "girl by sea" and her life and experiences in italy. she was lovely, very open and honest. i will endeavour to read her new book however i know it will awaken my passion and longing to return to italy. aahhh one day i hope.
snail mail
i forgot how exciting it is to receive a letter in the mail that isn't demanding you pay $200 for services you take for granted and forget you need to pay for. so yesterday afternoon when i arrived home from work it was so lovely to see a new little zine (thaw) just for me to peruse over a glass of wine once the little poppet was snug in bed.
i now want to plan two day trips one to ballarat to see some of the wonderful places mentioned in the mag and to daylesford to check out the new lark shop. so much to do so little time.

just married
ha... no not me. i went to take a peek at a family friends wedding today. the bride looked beautiful and the ceremony was lovely. from my experience with weddings, other peoples of course, i have never been to one that didn't make me tear up, that didn't make my heart ache with the romanticism of the whole thing. by making a declaration of love, to the one you love in front of your loved ones. oh they truly are such beautiful occasions and i am a sucker for romance!

a new home sweet home
we will be moving. really looking forward to the new place, it's much bigger than where we are now and with our little poppet owning more stuff than her mama and dada combined we are bulging at the seams. so more space will allow for more crap, eh i mean more beautiful and of course necessary toys, books, clothes and my little obsession cushions : )

a moment in my shoes...
reading luvinthemommyhood today and thought i would join in the share a bit about me. so please take a moment in my shoes...
making- a mess, i dont even need to try. but oh i do it so well!
cooking- those melting moments i intended to make weeks ago before being summoned to sleep school
drinking-a glass of semillon sauvignon blanc
reading- really stimulating articles for uni
wanting- to be reading a book that inspires imagination on a beach in hawaii
looking- at all the stuff we have that needs to be packed to move. oh dont you just luuuvvv moving?
playing- peek-a-boo around the couch with my little girl now she's on the move
wasting- time stressing about things i have no control over
sewing- a dress for my little girl & two quilts, one small & one large.
wishing- i had won tattslotto tonight {i can dream}
enjoying- some me time
waiting- for my "unsigned" hubby to buy me flowers on his way home from work one day
liking- having spent some time with mum today it's been awhile
wondering- how my family will all fit around the table at our parents soon as we will have gone from them having 2 grand children to 5 within a year.
loving- my life. it's testing me at the moment with being a new mum, going back to work, studying part time, being a girlfriend, a daughter, a friend, a housewife, finding a new place to live and i'm sure there's a few other hats i have temporarily forgotten about. i am exhausted but it's my life and i wouldn't want it any other way.
hoping- we have an air-conditioner where ever we live next, if they are right in saying we will have a really hot summer this year.
marvelling- at my daughter, she is growing so fast, taking it all in along the way and making my heart swell every time i look at her.
needing- a hair cut and colour
smelling- the coconut and lime body mousse i sampled in a store today
wearing- jeans, a blue and white floaty top and my green cons
following- afl football scores in the add breaks of anne of green gables. (one of my all time favourites)
noticing- that time truly does pass you by
knowing- i should go to bed and turn off the computer
thinking- how i would love to have a sewing room
bookmarking- gorgeous blogs that include tutorials on wonderful things to make and do that i will hopefully one day get back to.
opening- emails from uni that i have been avoiding
giggling- at hearing my daughter giggle properly for the first time yesterday when i ripped some velcro with added sound effects
feeling- tired

slouchy trackie bottoms
here's my bubba's new slouchy tracksuit bottoms. i love the style of these trackie pants that i make for my little poppet. i traced the pattern from another pair of pants months ago and as she grows i trace around the previous pair making them bigger as i go. they are wide legged and very cute on her. i used some of the left over hushabye jelly roll fabric to cuff them. the fabric will probably fray a bit but thats ok she's growing so fast.
yesterdays request
as it was fathers day my man could request a special breakfast so he choose banana pancakes. so bubba and i with the help of tessa kiros's apples for jam cookbook managed to successfully fulfill that which he desired. i was pretty happy with the result if you dont mind me saying and they tasted very yummy.
